Cuomo’s Energy Plan for the Future

As New York’s new governor, Andrew Cuomo, looks longingly toward a four or eight year stay at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue some time in the future he has been getting tough with New York fiscal mess. Good for him. But some recent decisions have me wondering if, instead of being a new kind of Democrat, he is really just more of the same.

What were three men with FDR emblazoned on their T-shirts doing at a FreedomWorks event? FreedomWorks is an activist organization that is partnered with tea party groups across the country. FDR is hardly an icon of the right.

The above question could and should be applied to a number of individuals including Attorney General Eric Holder and even President Barack Obama. The subject is a program, run out of the Justice Department, called “Fast and Furious.”

Actual Unemployment vs. Stimulus Sales Pitch

It was a very close race, one of the last decided in the country. Out of 180,000 plus votes the final margin of victory was just under 600 votes. In that election Tim Bishop successfully managed to hide from his record and instead he took advantage of a late Republican primary that was hotly contested and pounced with a campaign of personal attacks on his opponent that was just enough to carry the eight weeks until Election Day. His opponent, Randy Altschuler, wants a rematch and it appears the race will be decidedly different.

We have been hearing his defenders try to explain his failed economic policies. “Well, we didn’t know the depth of the problem that we were left with.” How many more explanations of what this administration didn’t know will it take before the rest of America finally grasps that they didn’t know anything when they took office, nor do they today?

Democrats Discover a New Race Card – Muslims

On the one side you have Barack Obama. On the other side you have a field of candidates who are fighting for the chance to take him on one to one. In that field of candidates there is a woman, with another in the wings, a black, and a number of white males with a great depth of experience. With Herman Cain saying, while embracing some Tea Party members, “To those who say the Tea Party is racist, eat your words.” The Democrats are desperate to find another way to create class warfare and divide and conquer. At the New Hampshire debate last night, they may have found their opening.

Groundbreaking? Earth shattering? Paradigm shift? What is the right word or phrase to describe what just happened in Colorado where a local school district implemented a school voucher program where any student can go to any school and the money will follow them.

The Second Bill of Rights Nobody Voted On or Ratified

The times were dark ones. In some parts of the world communism was taking hold and viewed by some as the future that works. In other regions fascism was gaining in Germany and Italy. In the U.S. President Roosevelt and his administration tried idea after idea to end the Great Depression without success. Despite Roosevelt’s admonition that we only have to fear is fear itself, fear was always at people’s elbows.

Tim Bishop’s Latest Dose of Hypocritical Hyperbole

The oil companies announce their first quarter earnings and they are good news for the oil companies and their investors. Not to let an opportunity pass, Congressman Tim Bishop, against a backdrop of $4 per gallon gasoline prices, introduces legislation titled, “The Big Oil Welfare Repeal Act.” On his own website he admits that this legislation “will not impact gas prices for American consumers.” The legislation’s purpose is to eliminate a tax credit for the oil companies, not all oil companies just the five largest. It also doesn’t address subsidies to other energy companies such as ethanol, wind, solar, coal, geothermal, and a $7,500 tax credit if you buy a Chevy Volt. Why not?
