Christine O’Donnell debates the Bearded Marxist

by Bill O'Connell on October 26, 2010

Christine O’Donnell and Chris Coons sat down for a debate at the University of Delaware and Ms. O’Donnell remained calm and cool and delivered thoughtful, conservative responses to the moderator’s questions. At times it seemed that she was outnumbered with the two moderators joining Coons against her, but she held her own. Coons on the other hand was snarky and condescending, what you might expect from a bearded marxist. It seemed that Coons felt O’Donnell was another one of the unwashed masses that shouldn’t have been on the stage with him. I think she cleaned his clock.

The full debate can be found on the Internet and it runs about an hour and a half for those so interested.

Kirsten Gillibrand and Joe DioGuardi Debate October 16 2010

Kirsten Gillibrand and Joe DioGuardi battle it out in a televised debate.  Here are some of the highlights.

Kirsten Gillibrand was elected to Congress as a relatively conservative Democrat.  She received a grade of “A” from the National Rifle Association and she was counted among the Blue Dog Democrats.  After Hillary Clinton became Secretary of State, Gillibrand was appointed to Clinton’s vacant senate seat.  Since joining the senate she has changed her positions 180 degrees.  The National Rifle Association now gives her a grade of “F”.  She now votes lockstep with Harry Reid.

Joe DioGuardi is a Certified Public Accountant who has previously served in Congress.  His position is focused on the fiscal issues we currently face and his objective is to go to Washington and approach it like an accountant to get their fiscal house in order.

Here are their key positions:

  • Gillibrand supports ObamaCare, DioGuardi thinks ObamaCare should be repealed and we should start over, beginning with tort reform
  • Gillibrand supports a public option and appears to support taxpayer funding of abortions
  • Gillibrand says she is strongly opposed to outsourcing but voted for the GM bailout after which GM increased offshore production
  • Gillibrand denies that she or Andrew Cuomo had anything at all to do with the housing bubble.

Senator Gillibrand is running from her record as fast as her legs will carry her.  Although she does deserve credit  for admitting she supported ObamaCare although she would be hard pressed to deny it.  She thinks that ObamaCare is just swell, though, and the only thing to continue working on is those big, bad, insurance companies that have the temerity to raise premiums, something that conservatives said would happen from the beginning.

Tea Party Gathers to Demand Main Stream Media Tell the Truth

On October 17, 2010 members of TeaParty365 and Media Matters gathered in front of the New York Times headquarters and later in the day at the headquarters of NBC to protest the liberal distortions of those and other main stream media outlets.

It is interesting to note the tea party members who can be seen (Chinese, black, young white female) are not what the main stream media keep telling us make up the tea parties, while the liberal who stops to curse at the protest is an old white guy.  The mainstream media did come to see what was going on and interviewed the organizers of the event as well as this correspondent, but seemed bored and disappointed that some self fulfillling controversy didn’t break out.  Attempts to find any footage of their filming after the fact were fruitless.

Barack Obama Stars in “The Desperate Hours”

With less than three weeks until the 2010 mid-term elections, it seems that Barack Obama and the Democrats are throwing whatever then can think of against the wall to see if it sticks.  The latest is that the big, bad, U.S. Chamber of Commerce is channeling foreign money into Republican campaigns.  Yes, our freedom (an odd term to be used by statists) is being sold to foreign governments.  If you don’t believe me, watch the clip.

Tim Bishop, Outsourcing, and His Record

by Bill O'Connell on October 10, 2010

With just over three weeks to the election, we know one thing about Tim Bishop.  He has a problem with outsourcing.  He doesn’t want to talk about his record, about TARP, the GM and Crysler bailout, the stimulus, Cap and Trade, or ObamaCare.  His entire campaign is about a company his opponent Randy Altschuler founded in 1999 and sold in 2005 that provided business services.  Mr. Bishop, like a magician, feels that if he can keep the voters distracted long enough on outsourcing, he can pull a reelection out of his, er, hat.
