Paul Ryan

The Democrats are still out there trying to distort everything about anything Paul Ryan has proposed. Chris Van Hollen was on Greta Susteren’s program last night and he toed the party line. Paul Ryan is a nice guy, he is willing to listen to what you say, but then proposes these programs that will hurt middle America. He then rolls out the lie to back it up. Click to read more

“A lie told often enough becomes the truth.” – Vladimir Lenin, Russian Communist Revolutionary

“If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth. “– Joseph Goebbels, Reich Minister of Propaganda, Nazi Germany

“You’re going to hand out vouchers to seniors . . . you’re going to hand one to my father who is 83, who is a lung cancer survivor and has far different medical needs than his former White House staffing son does at 41.”  – Robert Gibbs, former Obama Press Secretary. That’s a lie. Under Ryan’s plan there were be no changes for anyone over 55 years of age which, the last time I checked, 83 is older than 55.

“If Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan became president and vice president of the United States, they would be able to end the Medicare guarantee, shred the health care safety net that Medicare has provided for more than 50 years, and turn Medicare into a voucher program — leaving seniors really out in the cold because as health care costs grow larger than the voucher provides, seniors wouldn’t have enough money to cover their health care costs.” - Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Chairwoman of the Democrat National Committee. That’s a lie. Again, there would be no changes to anyone over 55 and those under 55 would have a choice to stay in the current program of move to a voucher program.

There is one change however that is significant, Ryan’s plan works to make Medicare solvent beyond the next election cycle. Here it is in Ryan’s own words.

What could be clearer than no changes if you are over 55? We are not talking  about some nuanced phrase on page 2,321 of ObamaCare. Nothing changes if you are over 55, yet Gibbs and Wasserman Schultz can look straight into the camera and lie to the American people and repeat it as often as possible so that, as Lenin and Goebbels said, it will become the truth. I don’t know about you, but I think that is despicable. But it is the status quo from the Democrats. No budget, no plan, personal attacks, and bold face lies.

Like Paul Ryan, I am eager to have this debate. But rest assured we will not sit back and let the left repeat the lies unchallenged long enough so that it becomes the truth, no matter how much the mainstream media helps them. We can get the truth out there.

That’s my opinion; I’d like to know yours. Please comment below.

The Road to Perdition or The Road to Prosperity?

When Barack Obama famously said, “If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that.  Somebody else made that happen.” there is a subtext that he believes but didn’t say. That subtext is: because you didn’t build that, somebody else made that happen; you don’t own that, we do. We decide how much of that you get to keep. Click to read more

Paul Ryan: Tim Bishop Speaks Out

by Bill O'Connell on August 13, 2012

Tim Bishop has been in Congress for ten years. Paul Ryan has been in Congress for fourteen years. In that time, Tim Bishop is best known for voting with Nancy Pelosi 97% of the time. Paul Ryan, on the other hand, was promoted to the Chairmanship of the Budget Committee over other members with more seniority, so who better than Tim Bishop to opine on the qualifications of Paul Ryan?

I just got my latest e-mail update from Congressman Tim Bishop and one cannot help but just shake his head. He leads off by mentioning his bogus survey, and tells the reader how (surprise!) people are concerned about taxes. Of course that is when Tim Bishop loses his way again.

It the last few days we have heard President Obama ranting about the Supreme Court. This is not anything new. You may also recall his unprecedented calling out of the Supreme Court as the justices sat in front of him during his State of the Union speech attacking them over the Citizens United v FEC case.

A contentious battle has concluded today with the passage of the debt limit deal. It was a hard fought battle where no one is entirely happy with the outcome. Before we leave this field of battle, we should take stock of the accomplishments and the players involved.

Tim Bishop is in a tough spot. He can’t rely on earmarks to get himself reelected, those have been banned. He has a reputation of strong constituent service but if you peel back that onion you will see that the service is based on helping folks deal with the massive regulatory programs he typically votes for. Run on his record? His record consists of voting with Nancy Pelosi 97% of the time; in return the leadership gave him his share of pork to pass around and “buy” votes.
