In his recent telephone town hall meeting, Tim Bishop expressed his support for the continued payroll tax holiday but making it clear that it would have no impact on the Social Security Trust Fund. Money for Social Security would continue to go into the trust fund from other sources. What other sources you might ask? I may have an answer for you.

In a recent interview on Piers Morgan Tonight, Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman, once again, laid down the charge that has no proof, that the Tea Party is racist. I like Morgan Freeman. I think he is a great actor. But with this display, I also think that he needs to get out of the Hollywood bubble that includes such deep thinkers as Michael Moore and Janeane Garofolo, and actually visit a Tea Party gathering, (they are very safe places to go to). Here is his thinking. The Tea Party is opposed to Barack Obama, therefore the Tea Party is racist. Game. Set. Match. Gee, that was easy. Does Morgan Freeman know who Herman Cain is? How does he explain that one?

Okay, so we have heard Harry Reid, flanked by Durbin and Schumer, scold the Republicans for stonewalling. Today we learn the news that another Democrat was bluff called to find they have nothing.

Who Are the Real Obstructionists?

by Bill O'Connell on July 27, 2011

When last she held the Speaker’s gavel in the 111th Congress, Nancy Pelosi failed to pass a budget at all. This was the first such failure since 1974. But somehow Republicans are obstructionists. When asked in May of this year about the Senate passing a budget, Harry Reid had this to say, “It would be foolish for us to do a budget at this stage.” Foolish. But somehow Republicans are obstructionists.

What were three men with FDR emblazoned on their T-shirts doing at a FreedomWorks event? FreedomWorks is an activist organization that is partnered with tea party groups across the country. FDR is hardly an icon of the right.

Gun Confiscation Movement (Part 2 of 3)

by Bill O'Connell on May 29, 2011

California is going through what we might all face. The nebulous definition of assault weapons has been tweaked and changed and each time, it has been used as an excuse to confiscate more guns. Who is left unaffected by all of this? Criminals. They don’t care about the law. Our own government is actively working to make us less safe, taking our property, and then failing to defend us against these criminals, because in a free society, they can’t. They have to wait for the criminal to act and when the criminal acts, the police are rarely on the scene. They have to be called and in the mean time the victims own government has actively worked to disarm them and leave them helpless.

The Assault on Paul Ryan’s Medicare Plan

by Bill O'Connell on May 18, 2011

Share and Recommend:

Newt Gingrich may have just killed his presidential bid in less than a week after announcing it. Aside from his support of ethanol subsidies, the old commercial sitting on the couch with Nancy Pelosi, he tops it off by attacking Paul Ryan’s budget that was approved by all but four Republican members of the House of Representatives.

He says the Ryan plan is too radical. Compared to what? ObamaCare?

While Medicare savings under the Democrats’ health care law and pending proposals would come mainly from reduced federal payments to doctors, hospitals and insurance companies, the budget put forth by House Republicans would cut spending by turning Medicare into a system of vouchers for future beneficiaries to buy private insurance, but in amounts that would not keep pace with the projected inflation of health costs.

The Democrats’ plan is to pay doctors, hospitals, and insurance companies less. How does that work in the real world? Doctors will refuse to accept more Medicare patients as will hospitals. So Medicare recipients may have coverage, but won’t have a doctor to serve them. You cannot bring down the cost of medical care by government fiat.

Ryan’s plan actually brings the free market into play by putting the decision making in the hands of the consumer. Of course, the Democrats say that amount Ryan proposes will not keep up with the rising costs of medical care. Aren’t these the same people who said if we did not spend nearly a trillion on the stimulus, unemployment would rise to 9%, wheras if we did, it would go no higher than 8%?

Paul Ryan showed the courage to tackle entitlements and with a credible plan. It may not be perfect, but it is a solid start. The Democrats’ “plan” is just more politbureau control from Washington dictating to the rest of us their failed solutions. It’s time for a change.

As for Newt, he can go back to the think tank, and re-think some of his positions.

That’s my opinion; I’d like to know yours. Please comment below.

When did the distortions start? Was it with Officer Crowley and the Cambridge Police Deparment “acting stupidly”? Was it with the distortions over ObamaCare? How about dressing down the Supreme Court while the camera catches Samuel Alito saying “not true”. His assault on Paul Ryan’s budget blueprint after inviting Congressman Ryan to come hear his speech, brings to mind Joe Wilson’s outburst, “You Lie!” during another Obama address in Congress. It is becoming all to common to hear the lies and distortions from this president, but they keep coming. The good news is that Congressman Ryan is not afraid to counterpunch.
